Social media advertisement uses the targeted marketing as the concept where each user is targeted according to its profile which comprises of the user's like and dislikes. Recently, I was looking for trolley bags across the internet. I was then bombarded with flipkart billion days sales which gave me the information that it will start from 29th Sept and there will be more than 50% of sales on trolley bags. Now my information was picked up from cookies that I was looking for trolley bags and was targeted on social media with the information that I should delay my purchase and utilize flip kart sales to get better offers. Hence I delayed my purchase and bought trolley bag from flipkart. I also wanted to purchase apparels for the coming festive season in India but I dint since I realized my desire for instant gratification might not make my satisfy in the long run. I went to the physical store to but clothes which fits me well rather than buying online which wouldn't provide me actual fitting details.
Social media as I mentioned earlier can be used for targeted messaging curated for the end consumers whose profile can be generated through the social media. The targeted message will then sit well with users and then they can be inspired to make purchase or bring about a change towards a cause.
