Did you know there is now a day ( last year - Sept 26, 2019) when auditors display pride in their profession? It’s a day of celebration for auditors in the profession, when social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn) are used for firms and individuals to share why they are passionate about the auditing industry and careers.

Questions:

1) Can you find any other sites proclaiming #AuditorProud? What sort of messages can you find? What types of things should not be posted on social media?

2) Have you thought about a career in auditing? Does #AuditorProud have any impact on your decision?

3) Auditors have taken a bit of a beating in recent years in the aftermath of the financial failures. Do you think that this day of audit pride may be a reaction to the bad publicity?

Auditors Proud Day - Sept 26, 2019.

In general terms, Audit is the procedure of verifing books of account of any organization, on the basis of which an auditor gives an opinion on true and fair view of financial statement. It also stats that the financial statements are free from material misstatement.

1. On the day of Auditors Proud, fraterniy members visit social media to express their pride and honour towards being an auditor. One can find blog or message on social platform such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. Big accounting firm also post messages on their own websites. Ex - PWC, EY, KPMG etc.

One can find images, videos, blogs and messages on this day.

While posting any message or video or image, as an auditor one should respect confidentiality and privacy of clients. The post should not be vague and should not create conflict of interest.

2. Every career have some pros & cons. It solely depends on, our perception towards future & way we look at present. One can think of career in Auditiing. You need to be alert while auditing the books which will cultivate habit of remaining aware in every circumstances. Likewise, discipline, commitment, time management, effective communication skills are few examples of qualities which this profession will teach you.

3. Auditor's responsibilty is to provide an unbiased opinion on financail statement and one of the corner stone is to avoid personal interest. Recent financial failures are example of auditors unable to maintain difference between their own interest and entity's interest. An auditor should not get tempted towards any gains and advantages. The day of Auditors pride is not a reaction to bad publicity. Other way round, we can think it as creating and reminding professionals about dignity of this profession.
