A.

Apart from the examples already mentioned in the table, following other online communication channels can be used for the following domains -

  • Personal and private - Personal messaging on Facebook messenger, sharing photos on Google photos, etc.
  • Professional and private - Email, Skype
  • Personal and Public - Social networking sites like Instagram, Snapchat
  • Professional and Public - LinkdeIn, ResearchGate (for academic community). Personal website

B.

Yes, same channel can be used for more than one domain.
The biggest example would be Messenger (due to easy and variety of communication features) can be used to connect to even professional circle after an initial knowing of each other.

Similarly, social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter can be used for promoting about work, digital marketing and so on.

In a private setting like Whatsapp, there is no question of choice of content as the messages are private. Although for a social and public site like Facebook, keep a quality control on your posts and try to make professional-personal life. Since it is in public domain and accessible to even professional circle, avoid private subjects like relationship, sensitive posts, and any such content not catering to a larger community.

C.

Primary meta messages -

Personal and private - Character and caring.

Ex: Suppose I spend evening with my friends. To show my caring, I will express in a post who I really liked spending my time with them and being thankful to them. To show my character and that they can trust on me. I will choose to not post any picture/video that may be embarrassing to some of them or they do not want it to posted.

Professional and private - Competence and character.

Ex: Suppose I have a task allotted to me. And I am facing certain issues while working on it. I will use these channels and politely ask for help of my colleagues and and let them know that I am working hard on it. If for some reason, I have got an invitation to join a colleague or a dinner and I am in the middle of the work, I will explain that I am right not in the middle of something and politely decline demonstrating my priorities and sincerity towards work. But also, I will tell the concerned person that I may join may be the next day for dinner for not coming off as rude.

Personal and public - Caring and character

Ex: I will write a family blog about the recent vacation I just had with my family. To back it up, I can also post an album consisting of all family members on Facebook and tagging them to show that I care and have not ignored anyone.

Professional and public - Well educated and knowledgeable, hardworking.

Ex: I will have a section in my profile highlighting my education and scholastic achievements. Also, a section of the projects and companies I have worked for would demonstrate my hard working nature.
