Alteration in health or diagnosis-

radiation burns due to sun

Patghophyisiology-

Radiation burn is caused due to ionizing radiation on the tissues and body organs. It causes burns that impacts the human body tissues severely. Common form of radiation burn is sunburn that is caused due to sun rays. The cells gets exposed to ionizing radiation from any particular source, it damages the DNA of the cell and also cause the cells to become cancerous at some point. This process results in high degree burns to greater depth.

Health promotion-

Apply suns-cream and preventive garments during sun exposure.

Assessment-

Risk factors-

Sun exposure, xray exposure, rays from electric equipment etc.

Findings-

Patient has developed third degree sun burns that are type of radiation burn.

Lab test- burn evaluation test, that helps in evaluating the degree of burn and extent of burn.

Diagnostic procedure- physical examination, electrolyte imbalance and assessment.

Patient-centered care-

Nursing interventions-

Provide electrolyte balance, wound cleaning and dressing and mental health counselling.

Medication-

Electrolyte, NSAIDS for pain relief, topic ointments

Therapeutic procedure- providing wound care, skin care, infection control

Client education- avoid exposure to water and further cause of radiation, avoid any form of fluid exposure or infectious exposure

Inter-professional care-doctors, burn specialist, nurses, counselor, social worker, care assistant etc. form the inter-professional team.

Complications- Cancer, Heart diseases

Safety considerations- prevent infection to the healing wounds.
