Childhood obesity is considered to be a condition in which a child or children are overweight more than the body requirement for their age as well as/ or height. It can be identified by few signs and symptoms shown. They are as follow:

- overweight

- abdominal obesity

- shortness of breath

- increased BMI, etc.

Children become obese or overweight because of various different reasons. These reasons may include:

- genetic factors

- unhealthy lifestyle

- lack of physical activity

- unhealthy eating pattern

- or can be because of combined causes of all of these.

- in rare cases the cause might be medical condition such as hormonal problems

- a major risk factor can be genetical history of overweight

The main reason in today's world for obesity in children is because of their eating habits and lifestyle. Children love to eat junk food and ask for more of it. The parents cannot deny their wanting a as well as the media in this case has influenced the children and their tiny minds with lots of advertisement and attractive pictures where children cannot resist themselves. Also the other cause is unhealthy lifestyle as well as decreased physical activity. It can be due to increased in the use of social media and gadgets. The children love to sit Infront of the television or phones or video games and do not opt for a real outdoor games. They tend to eat more while indulge in using all these electronic gadgets making hem increase weight and fats.

Obesity in childhood is associated with various different disease conditions as well as serious health complications and an increased risk of premature onset of illnesses. These includes diabetes mellitus and heart diseases.

In order to prevent these in children they should be brought back to their normal health status. It can be done by:

- infants should be exclusively breastfed from birth to 6 months of age in order to prevent obese and over weight in infants.

- infants should not be overfed.

- for children, they should be kept away from their gadgets and junk foods.

- do not allow them to sit at one place and play with their video games

- provide a routine and screen time for the children

- always make th eat along with all the family members on the dinning table.
