Compassion
Compassion is the Deep awareness of suffering of another, coupled with the wish to relieve it. It is also called empathy, mercy etc.
Example of nursing Actions that contribute to patient outcome: * provide emotional support during critical times and share a handshake or a hug
* Actively listen to patients, clarfiy their doubts and concerns and encourage patients.
Compassion is a fundamental value in nursing. It helps to increase inter professional team support, culture of the unit and also has an impact to patient's outcome.
Advocacy
Advocacy is the act of arguing in favour of, or supporting something. It is the practice of supporting someone to make their voice heard.
Example of nursing Actions:
* A women who is in too fear to speak about domestic violence, that she daily suffers, A nurse can tspeak about it report it to the authority.
* Promoting patient safety by ensuring the patient's 's rights.
Advocating patient's rights will improve patient outcome and inter professional team and culture of the unit
Resilience
Resilience is the mental ability to recover quickly from depression , illness or misfortune.
Example of nursing Actions : Returning back to the normal mood as soon as possible after a stressfull event such as a verbal abuse and scolding from a reative of a patient or a physsician.
It is a must quality of a person, essential for Unprofessional team support and culture of the unit. Coming back to the normal mood after a stress full talk , essssential to work in multy disciplinary team.
Evidence Based Practice
Practices based on facts and observations in nursing care of the patients are called Evidence Based Practices.
Example of nursing Actions: To prevent hospital acquired infection nurses are using Evidence Based Practices of correct hand Washing, protective clothing , keeping the ward or the unit clean etc.
Inter professional team support can be enhanced by Evidence Based Practices choose by nurses and it also enhance the patient outcome and unit culture.
