#. Nursing Ethics

The study of moral issues related to and through the lens of nursing. Issues include those associated with the basic concepts of nursing such as health and healing.

To be effective in nursing, nurses are required to make morally good decisions and follow through with those decisions

1. Provision 1 of ANA Code of Ethics

The nurse practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person

2. Provision 2 of ANA Code of Ethics

The nurses primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or population

3. Provision 3 of ANA Code of Ethics

The nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the right, health, and safety of the patient

4. Provision 4 of ANA Code of Ethics

The nurse has authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to promote health and to provide optimal care

5. Provision 5 of ANA Code of Ethics

The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional growth.

There is no huge difference between the code of ethics of social workers and nurses . Some of the code of ethics of social workers :-

social workers primary goal is to help people in need and address social problems

- social justice

social workers challenge injustice

- dignity and worth of a person

social workers respect the inherent dignity and worth of a person

- importance of human relationships

social workers recognize the central importance of human relationships

- integrity

social workers behave in a trustworthy manner

- competence

social workers practice within their areas of competence and develop and enhance their personal expertise

- self determination

social workers respect and promote the rights of clients to self determination and assist clients in their efforts to identify and clarify their goals

- privacy and confidentiality a

respect clients rights to privacy, do not solicit private information from clients unless its essential to providing services.

- informed consent

social workers should provide services to clients only in the context of a professional relationship when appropriate, on valid informed consent.
