In the article "The House Officer's Changing World," Joseph Hardison states that "comparing medicine then and now is like comparing the horse-and-buggy days of with interplanetary travel." If you could take the best of the "horse and buggy" days of medicine, and the best of today's world of medicine, what parts of the past and the present would you keejp and what parts would you discard?

I would keep, Comparing todays medicine with interplanetary travel.

I would discard Comparing the history of medicine with the horse-and buggy days  

The main reason is that history of medicine , has a tremendous contribution towards health care and they are the corner stone for the evolution of current sucess of this field. In the initial days there were no technologies to support the medical research, but with constant determination and hardships ,they have paved the way for future. Without their contribution we will never be where we are now.. .
