Answer #1

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) includes many practices and products that aren't generally considered as a part of conventional medicine, but widely used to promote and maintain health and wellness or treat diseases. Traditional alternative therapy like homeopathy, acupuncture, meditation, yoga etc. are included under CAM. Many herbal products available in pharmacies as supplementary vitamins, minerals etc. are also coming under CAM. Studies proved that women are more likely to use CAM than men.

Women tend to be more active in their own health promotion and are more concerned about health issues compared to men. So, health concern is a reason for the willingness of women to use CAM.

Usually alternative therapies goes along with the traditional belief system and one's own belief. CAM enables women to take active part in decision-making processes and treatment and, thereby, contribute to positive health outcomes for themselves. So, it is compatible with one's belief.

Cost is not considered as a reason for the willingness of women to use CAM. Women in financially sound background also using CAM instead of conventional medicine.
