Answer #1

Exercise 16.

Mean is calculated as

X1+X2 X3 X4 2.4 1.2 = 1.5 7n

Sample standard deviation calculated as

S = rac{sum (ar{X}-X_{i})}{n-1}

=0.68313

Population standard deviation is calculated as

sigma = rac{sum (ar{X}-X_{i})}{n}

=0.5916

Exercise 18

Again

Mean is calculated as

X1X2 + X3 + X4 5.8+ 7.8 = 6.5

Sample standard deviation calculated as

S= rac{sum (ar{X}-X_{i})}{n-1}

=1.063

Population standard deviation is calculated as

sigma = rac{sum (ar{X}-X_{i})}{n}

=0.9508
