Discovery Rights of criminal defendant allows parties to seek information about any particular criminal act through various means. This can include interrogation, transfer of documents or any other information, voluntary admission etc.
Both these laws have the potential to create conflict in the decision-making process. For example, after any terrorist attack or other disaster, the public has the right to know the truth. They would want the information to be made public. But the Govt. can invoke State Secret privilege and block the process in the name of national security.
