There is the news of high valuations in the stock markets. Nasdaq has corrected in the past few sessions. Heavyweight stocks like Facebook, Netflix etc. have taken a beating. Post 2008 there has been a spurt in liquidity all across the globe. This was also due to the US QE (Quantitative Easing) measures to boost liquidity post 2008 recession. Thus all the liquidity has led to money being pumped in stock markets leading to irrational stock valuations.

Also what has compounded the impact is the US - China Trade war which has led to ripples all across the globe.
US's Debt/GDP ratio is reaching alarming levels. This is particularly scary. The US Shutdown news has the potential to put US again in recession mode. Thus this would lead to flight of capital from US to the emerging economies. This would lead to re-doing the 2008 type scenario.
