1. Cystic fibrosis is a disease of exocrine causes multi function failure characterized by chronic respiratory infection, pancreatic enzyme insufficiency.
2. It is caused by defect in cystic fibrosis gene which causes decreased secretion of chloride and increased reabsorption of sodium and water across epithelial cells. It causes decreased hydration of mucus and thick the mucus.
3. Secretion in respiratory tract, pancrease, GI tract, sweat gland and other exocrine gland tissue have increased viscosity and causes infection and inflammation.
