Thetraditional roles of board of directors of the company
are:
- To see the management and assure that the long term interests of
shareholders are being served.
- To enhance governance with experience , knowledge, skills and
effective decision making.
- Board members prepare for , attend and participate in all
applicable board meetings.
There are many issues faced by apple inc. But one of the most
important issue is on diversity. Some investors believe the company
isn't making progress fast enough and they are trying to force the
company to pick up and saying that the company is making excuses
fpr not having sufficient people and all and for that the investors
gave proposals to company to adopt and accelerated recruitment
policy but company claims tp have removed disparities and also have
hired women and people of colour. Its even launched an "inclusion
and diversity" page with visualizations of its hiring data. Also
Apple's board wrote a note to shareholders to vote against the
proposal given.The company argues that it has much broader
diversity efforrs at work has made steady progress in attracting
more underrepresented minorities. Company concludes that proposal
is not necessary because they have already demonstrated commitment
to a hollistic view of inclusion and diversity.
