3. In sickle cell anemia the affected hemoglobin molecules mis-shapens when there is less oxygen which makes erythrocytes sickle shaped. Hemoglobin eletrophoresis is a typical blood test which is ordered for people with sickle cell anemia, This test detects all types of hemoglobin. It is also known as sickle cell screen.
