Answer: One of the minority group present in the United States is the African American. These people are at major risk of diabetes as they are 60% more highly prone to disease as compared to the native Americans. The obesity is high in the African American women and they are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Due to lack of knowledge and awareness they are unable to manage their health. One of the drawback is that due to socioeconomic status they are unable to get proper treatment. They have their own tradition which acts as a barrier in the treatment of the patients. They mostly rely on the traditional medicine and hence they don't show much concern to the hospital treatment. This causes worsening of the disease state sometimes making it more complex. The different culture requires cultural competence environment to make sure that patients may feel secure and easy to discuss their problem. There is also communication gap due to language problem as most of them unable to speak English.
