As nurses are the care givers to a patient and interact with the patient much more than the doctors, they become aware of the well being of the patients not only physiologically, but also their social well being.

They have the complete medical, family, economical history of the patient and are also aware of the learning capability of the patient and their family. At the same time they know the facilities provides by the nursing home.

They can communicate information about the facilities provided and the procedure to access these facilities in the most feasible way to the patient based on their learning needs and preferences. The needs of every client is unique and hence the procedures need to be tailor made to accustom the client.

There should be mutual sharing of information between the two, to provide optimal care and information about resources and services available.

One should be well aware of the legal rights of themselves as well as of the clients to provide the care the patient deserves and has the rights to obtain.
