The instructions which can be provided to this patient for a clean catch specimen are

• Explain the procedure to the patient in a friendly ,supportive and soothing way ,so that the patient dies not feel embarrassed to collect the sample
• Open the specimen bottle just before voiding
• First clean the penile region with wet wipes or simply by using soap and water to destroy or prevent the entering of microorganisms in the sample during collection
• Pass a little amount of urine
• Collect the mid stream urine(a minimum of 5ml or more)
• Air tight the container and place it in the designated place
• Wash perineal region and followed by hand washing.
