Ageing in simple refers to developing or advancing not only physically but also psychologically. It is not just the increase of a number every year but also the increase workload needed for the internal organs to function effectively due to its gradual decrease of function.

The issues of ageing and oldage are

• Disease condition (diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc., )
• Psychological (cognitive impairment)
• Musculoskeletal (risk for fall)
• Gastrointestinal:(malnutrition)
• Risk for abuse physical,psychological, social
• Risk for use of substances to come out of depression, loss,isolation, etc.,

The services which can provided by a social worker are

• Educating and creating awareness in the management of chronic illness
• Assisting them in their personal needs
• Counseling and making them active socially
