Therapeutic communication.

Step 1 : Active listening

Ask the client:Tell me what exactly happened?

Step 2 share conversation

Why are looking so low?

Step 3 sharing empathy

It Must be very frustrating to know what you want and not be able to do that.

Step 4 sharing hope a sense of possiblity

I totally believe in you and I have heard about your courage in the past you will definitely find a way out.

Step 5 sharing feeling

Step 6 using touch

Check for pulse rates

Step 7 silence

Just observe the client and allow the client to break the silence

Step 8 Providing information

I can actually see that your good pressure is rising can you tell how are feeling now.

Step 9 Clarifying whether the client understand what she saying or not?

Are you completely getting what I am trying to say

Step 10.Focussing

On the scale of one to ten tell me the level of frustration you are experiencing.

Step 11. Paraphasing

Client says my blood pressure is rising , nurse say you are suffering from anxiety.

Step 12 Asking relevant question

What is your biggest problem now?

Step 13 Summarizing

I can see you are going through a bad phase I am going to give benzodiazepines to relax you . You will definitely feel better after taking medication . It will improve your mood.

Step 14 Self disclosure

You know sometimes we have to face things which we don't like. I also felt the while I was rejected from my nursing examination. But counseling felt good. Because health is wealth as they say.
