Answer #1

Available acyclovir sodium - 50mg/ml

Weight of the patient - 10kg

Prescribed dose - 500mg/meter square = 150mg

Height of the patient - 55cm

BSA = √weight × height /3600

= √10×55/3600

= 0.3meter square

Time of infusion - 60min

Available acyclovir is 50mg/ml ( 1ml has 50mg )

So, we need 3ml for 150mg

3ml of acyclovir sodium has to be added to a 250ml of bag of D5W

Flow rate = total volume /total time

= 250ml /60min

= 4.1ml/min
