Answer #1

#. Ordered dose of Ancef - 500mg IV every 8hrs

Available medication in 100ml bag of NS

Total time of infusion - 30mins

Flow rate = Total volume /total time

= 100ml / 30min

= 3.33ml/min

#. Ordered dose of kefzol is 1gm in 50ml of NS

Total time of infusion - 30mins = 0.5hr

Flow rate = total volume/ total time

Total volume - 50ml

= 50ml / 30mins (0.5hr)

= 1.6ml/min

or 100ml/hr

#. Ordered dose of Cipro - 400mg in 200ml of D5W

Flow rate = 200mg /hr

Using unitary method :

400mg of Cipro is present in 200ml of D5W

Then 200mg of Cipro will be present in 100ml /hr
