Answer #1

Question 1- C, self-assessment of the cultural background should not be included when obtaining cultural knowledge

Question 2- TRUE, although not ideal, but in case an interpreter/translator is unavailable, a family member or friend can be used as long as its not a child. Most insurance companies in the private sector of the USA do not cover translators in their health insurance. The financial burden of hiring a translator falls upon the family, who may or may not be able to pay for one.

Question 3- Cultural competence is an intersection of cultural awareness(option A), cultural encounter(option C), cultural skills(option F), and cultural knowledge(option H)

Question 4- TRUE. This can be explained by the use of examples: Treatment efficacy of mental disorders such as Depression will not be the same in India and the USA due to the cultural believes in the perception of the disease. Most of the people in India do not even consider this to be a problem and hence do not seek treatment or be supportive of someone seeking the treatment thereby influencing the final outcome. This may not be the case in most developed countries such as USA, UK, Japan, etc.

Question 5- Josepha Campinha- Bacote's Background is in Nursing(option C)
