1 Latinos are defined as the people who see themselves as coming from a Spanish-speaking background.They are heterogenous in their language ,practice of religion,political learning,educational and socio economic status,mores and belief systems concerning health and disability.

2 Hispanic is an ethnic term -an individual who comes from a spanish speaking background regardless of race and is a government issued term.Only about one-quarter of Hispanics /latinos identify using the Hispanic/latino label.

  • Health maybe viewed as a reward from God or as a result of good luck.
  • Illness maybe viewed as a result of Gods punishment to for sins.
  • Some members may adhere to nontraditional measures such as folk medicine.
