Laura is unable to overcome her own personal shyness and break away from the safety of home. In contrast, Tom constantly tries to escape, and manages to fully remove himself by the end of the play. Tenesse William shows how much both Brother and Sister love each other , beyond their problems which made them cover their love.

Though Tom was to be a contradictory character he is really genuine working for the family and escaping to the movies , making adventures and getting rid of his pain.His genuinity lies where Tom left home completely for his Sister.

Laura is a girl who find her safety at home, as she had a bad leg where she had to wear a brace and move with the limp.She manage her self by spending on her old records and her glass collections.

Tom is considered to be a double role person. He is a person of his own interests always escapes from the situations.Some times he is so lovable towards his mother Amanda and sister Laura , and also sometimes very freaky and harsh.

Laura cries for his brothers pain and what he is feeling and even Tom left home completely when he was betrayed by mother Amanda over her sister.
