Answer: Pregnancy requires lots of care which includes sufficient amount of vitamins and nutrients. This is important for the growth and development of fetus and health infant. The excess alcohol intake during pregnancy causes complications in delivery, under development of the fetus.

The four factors which affect the relationship between alcohol intake and outcome of pregnancy :

  • Low birth weight
  • Respiratory diseases or illness
  • Poor growth of fetus
  • Liver disease

There are differences between the requirements in the nutrients between adolescents and adults during pregnancy.

  • The adolescents goes through various changes hence they requires more nutrients.
  • The adolescents body goes hormonal changes additionally, pregnancy causes body to demand more nutrients.
  • The adolescents are unable to cope up with the mental stress and hence they require healthy eating to reduce the stress.
