A scientific technique that has been used over the past several years is the concept of gene therapy. Scientist have developed gene therapies used to prevent or treat diseases in humans. The two main types of gene therapy are germline therapy and somatic therapy (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2017). Germline therapy affects many individuals because this type of therapy has the ability to change DNA in reproductive cells such as sperm and eggs. Those changes are then passed down from generation to generation. Somatic therapy affects only the person receiving the therapy by targeting non-reproductive cells. An example of somatic therapy is the treatment of a patient with Parkinson’s disease. in an experimental gene therapy study, a group of patients with Parkinson’s disease were injected with a retroviral vector that included three genes into the brain. The genes gave certain cells the ability to produce dopamine and therefore the patients showed improved muscle control by the end of the study (Genetic Science Learning Center, n.d.). The rationale behind the practice of gene therapy is to treat patients in order to improve their quality of life. An ethical question to think about is whether gene therapy would be accessible to all people. What would the criteria for receiving gene therapy be? Would there be a disparity in classes due to affordability of the treatment? Would people misuse the therapy if that meant that their future children could be taller or stronger? Ultimately, there are still many tests and trials to be done before gene therapy can be used to treat common diseases instead of treating with medications.

This is accessible only after the proper approval by the government and it should be undertaken by them.To be included in the insurance package to make it affordable to all.So far it can be accessible and affordable to only rich people.

The criteria for receiving gene therapy is the patient should have a chronic,hereditary,or deadly disease uncurable in the modern mefical facilities available. For germline therapy the parents should have any disease which may affect the growing foetus to fit into it.

Yes ,there will be a disparity when it comes to affordability fir receiving the therapy because of the high expenses to be spent on it.This is impossible for a low income family.

There are high chances for misusing this because of greedy and wishes of all human being psychologically to get the best.For example: baby designer

Research are still going on to treat common diseases rather to treat on with medication.
