Since there are not enough American medical school graduates to fill the residencies of the smaller non-teaching hospitals, would not the employment of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or young physicians starting practice be considered first, before recruiting foreign medical graduates?

United States being one of the developed nation in the world and stands as a leading in healthcare sector.The minimum number of American medical school graduates has made it difficult to meet the growing number of patients.This has also contributed to the lack of clinical proficiency by the professionals who are practising for the first time with patients directly.The clinical expertise when compared to the foreign mefical graduates are higher in their skills theoretically and clinically because of their exposureto the training period in their countries. A study from Health affairs in 2010 states that the oldage care and congestive heart diseases are well treated by foreign medical graduates in comparison with domestic medical graduates.This is the reason for them to be preffered and recruited but it is also important to give preference to them also for the progress of nation as a whole.
