2) Nurse managers are responsible for supervising nursing staff in a hospital or clinical setting. They oversee patient care, make management and budgetary decisions, set work schedules, coordinate meetings and make decisions about personnel.
3) Followership, defined as 'upward influence', describes individuals' behaviours and contribution to their teams that affect outcomes. It is an active process that, alongside good leadership, can create conditions that are conducive to increased safety and high performance.
- Followership is the actions of someone in a subordinate role. . In organizations, “leadership is not just done by the leader, and followership is not just done by followers.” This perspective suggests that leadership and followership do not operate on one continuum, with one decreasing while the other increases.
