Answer #1

ALKALOSIS- It occur due to loss of H+ ions or an excess of bicarbonate ions in the body associated with hypoventilation and compensatory increase in pCO2 with high Ph.

It usually develop by persistent vomiting and diarrhea

Electrolyte composition of body fluid

Cations (mEq/L)

1. Na+ in ICF is 9.0 , in ECF is 140.0 and in INTERSTITIAL FLUID is 147.0

2. K+ in ICF is 158.0 , in ECF is 4.5 and in INTERSTITIAL fluid is 4.0

3. Ca++ in ICF is 3.0, in ECF is 5.0 and in INTERSTITIAL fluid is 2.5

4. Mg++ in ICF is 30.0 . in ECF is 2.0 and in INTERSTITIAL fluid is 1.0

HOW SHIFTING TAKE PLACE

1. Hypokalemia is observed low body potassium and low INTERACELULAR concentration of potassium and increase in pH in blood.

2. Which causes shift of potassium OUT OF THE PLASMA AND INTERSTITIAL FLUID into the urine

3. Transcellular shift of potassium which is abrupt movement of potassium from the extracellular into the intracellular cell.

LAB VALUES SHOW

- High ph level ABOVE 7.45 (normal range 7.35-7.45)

- Low blood potassium less then 3.5 mEq/L (normal range 3.5- 5.3 mEq/l)

- Increase level of HCO3 more than 24mEq/l (norma range 18-24 mEq/l

- Decrease value of pCO2 less than 35mmhg (normal value 35-45 mmhg)
