What food safety standards exist?
Food safety is regulated in three levels and they set the safety standards.
The federal-level consists of a bunch of agencies operating in 35 states.
The chief agencies in charge of food safety are the Agriculture Committee and Commerce Committee in the House; the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee and the Labor and Human Resources Committee in the Senate; and the House and Senate Agriculture, etc. The other four services that take part in the venture are the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS); the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).
FDA makes sure that food is safe, clean, nourishing, healthy and properly labeled. FSIS checks the same with the meat and poultry when they are exported interstate or internationally. EPA ensures safe use of pesticides, food plant detergents and safeguard individuals who work and surrounds them and protects all from exposure through air, water, and home uses. EPA checks environmental chemical and microbial contaminants in air and water that threats food safety. NMFS checks seafood quality.
State and local departments closely observe the state and local levels. The meat and poultry examination and produced in the state will be examined by the state-level agency, but FSIS keeps track of the process. Each state or locality should follow all or any of the code that includes temperature for cooking, cooling, refrigerating, reheating, etc. in its laws. Every 6 months the examiners should check the restaurants.
Who regulates our food safety?
Food And Drug Administration (FDA) regulates food safety with the help of its Centre for Food Safety And Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). Meat, poultry and egg products are checked by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
