1. Outpatient services-any health care services that do not require an overnight stay in an institution of health care delivery/services that are provided that don't require an overnight stay
Inpatient Services-services that involve an overnight stay of a patient.
*I think in my view inpatient services are so popular with health care consumers why because the patient may get more services when compared with the outpatient services such as :
-It requires admission to a specified unit
- Precautions measures
- Checking vitals frequently/as per doctors advise
- Diet recommendations according to each stage
- Administer medications according to the specified condition
- Labs whenever necessary
-Consultation as required
- Diagnostic tests as per symptoms or complaints
*My experience with outpatient services is, it focuses on ambulatory care and is meant for diagnosis or treatment.
2. Urgent care centers are meant for :
-Expanded access and after hours access, pluss weekends
-It provides an unscheduled care
-It provides expanded services compared to primary
-X-ray, IV, laceration treatment, fracture care, foreign body
removal
-Common tests: strep throat, urinalysis, blood work, CT scan, MRI,
ultrasound.
