Also, you have the responsibility for the functions and outcomes of the cancer unit. An issue of contention between the nurses and support staff is the scheduling of outpatient chemotherapy treatments. The nurses propose that there must be at least five support staff positions available in the outpatient treatment center during hours of operation. The support staff states that only two need to be present because their responsibilities are limited in this area. The nursing staff presented the issue to the Chief Nursing Officer, bypassing your authority to make a decision.

Answer all the following questions.

Traditional management theory :

It is also known as Classical theory.

According to this theory Organization is a machine and the employees or human beings are different components or parts of that machine.

If we apply this theory to the above scenario, both nursing staff and supportive staff has to listen the word's of nursing officer, what he or she has to say.

The chief nursing officer must know everything regarding staff requirements in all areas like out patient treatment areas and operation areas.

So he or she can show the pathway or direct and control the problem of nursing staff and supportive staff.

Systems theory in management includes input, through put, and output.

* According to this theory if we will apply for this scenario means, the chief nursing officer can give advices, and guidence, like how many supportive staff needed in out patient treatment center during the hours of operation, and how many nursing staff needed.

* And tell what is there working responsibilities in that area.

* Next implement there actions of working like as throughput.

* Nursing officer must observes for any conflicts and soothening of work.

* In out put see the evaluation, like work done well, or still more staff needed or sufficient.

The contingency model includes leadership styles like motivation of tasks and motivation of relationships.

And variables situations like leader and members relationships, position power, Task structures.

According to this, motivation of two groups like devideng work equally, that means equity must be there.

* according to this contingency theory does not require all the time success, consider some times staff willing also.

* depending upon the internal situations like conflicts among staff to be reduced by providing support.

* rewards for good behaviors.

* depending upon external situations like during in working environment according to the work load alot the staff sufficiently.

* Encourage the staff for good working relationship and environment by incentives and appraisals or by appropriations.
