Answer #1
  • Once they stop dividing and become differentiated, forming the protective outer layers.HPV infects and replicates within the basal epithelial cells .HPV gene expression depends on host cell factors ,which vary depending on the level of differentiation of the host cells.
  • Early genes are expressed in rrelatively undifferentiated cells and late genes are expressed in more differentiated cells closer to the surface of the epithelium spatial and temporal gene expression.

1 You are a studying the progression of cells through the cell cycle. You are particularly interested in the cyclins E and A, both of which contribute sequentially to the same cell cycle transition. In this case one cyclin initiates the transition and the other completes the process. In these images you see cell extracts from Hela Cells. A) shows the levels of various proteins, while B) shows the amount of DNA in the cells, more DNA shifts this graph...

Cancer cells often lack normal DNA damage response and cell-cycle control mechanisms. Why does this make them more susceptible to DNA-damaging chemotherapies? O Cancer cells will arrest in the cycle and will not grow further O Cancer cells with activating mutations in Ras will amplify the damage through the Ras signaling pathway Cancer cells might ignore the normal mechanisms that halt the cell cycle in response to damage, and subsequent division with damage leads to death, O Cancer cells have...

Most cancer medications kill rapidly dividing cells, such as those in tumors. Two common side effects of cancer medications are hair loss and digestive tract upsets. Make a hypothesis about why these two side effects are seen in people taking cancer medications, and explain your reasoning. (Hint: The cells on your scalp and those that line your digestive tract are both part of surface tissues called epithelia. Your skin is also an epithelium. Have you ever noticed how you constantly...
