* Discrepancy in the specific gravity of urine sample is due to

   b. Increased protein in the sample.

* Because reagent strips measure the specific gravity of urine by

measuring the iron concentration so substances present in the urine

should be ionize to measure by this method.

* If protein is present in the urine sample it will not ionize so refractometer

shows high value compared to reagent strip method which result in discrepancy
