If the patient can't help move a limb , PTs use active range of motion ( inset term 1) exercises. Active range of motion of exercises are those which are done when the patient is unable to do it itself

If he can move the limbs but still need a help ,the PTs uses active assistive range of motion ( insert term ) exercises. Active assistive range of motion exercises are those in which the patient starts the exercises but needs to assisstance to complete it .

If he can move the limb by himself ,the PTs uses passive range of motion exercises (insert term 3) . Passive range of motion exercises are those which are not totally by the patient with out any assistance .
