In the today health care system, the professional role of the physician is to treat the disease, do clinical studies and research, and to educate the patient by using their scientific knowledge, evidenced-based practice, ethical concerns, clinical judgment, with utmost responsibility. The role of the physician has changed and expanded to team care approach, practice based on advanced technologies, use of artificial intelligence. Physician role has become more specific in analyzing the health problem, making an accurate diagnosis, and to treat them accordingly. The role of physicians changed to more focused care in prescribing of drugs, assigning of procedures, doing the appropriate diagnostic test, and therapies in an appropriate manner. Today, the physician should take an important part in deciding when the patient to be discharged. Physician functioned moved on preventive services rather the curative of the diseases. The changing role has improved the quality of patient care by improving the skills and knowledge of the physician, reduction of medical errors, minimizing unnecessary tests and procedures and use of effective treatment.
