Please respond to this discussion question with a COLLEGE level response and adequate vocabulary to correspond.

What do you think about Physician Assisted Suicide? Why do you think some states have legalized it? What are your own views, pro and con? Can you see it as a last resort? Would you fear not having any control of the end of your life? Would you want the option of PAS if you were not going to get better and in pain?

1. Physician assisted suicide is when a physician himself helps the patient to end his / her life, it is also known as euthanesia.

2. Some states in US have legalised physician assisted suicide such as Columbia and Washington, as they believe  they have the right to make their own life choices even when it comes to ending it.

3. Pro's - It ends the suffering.

• Respecting their rights.
• Not being burden on others.

Con's - Sets wrong example to mental health patient.

• Encourages drug addicts or substance abuse people.
• People or relative they leave behind may end up with depression.

4. I do see it as a last resort as when the time comes I would not like to be burden or dependent  on anyone.

5. I would definitely fear if I am unable to control to end my life, control is something a human being is used to all his life for example we control our anger, hunger, emotions, etc and if we are unable to control our end, it is something which is to be feared.

6. I would want the option of PAS, If I had cancer or in pain which cannot be treated, I would not want to live with pain rather die in peace and with my own choice and respect.
