Answer #1

The main reason for the Tiufts Medical Center nurses to go on a strike is for a "Safe Patient Care"

Others being

  • Low wages (nurses worked for 12 hours and were pain the least when compared with other hospitals in Boston)
  • Nurse shortage (the number of nurses to care for patients were literally low ,which directly impacted the quality of care to a patient .Simultaneously it has increased the work load of the nurse leading to stress and health issues)
  • A reduced reimbursement

All this made the nurse to go on a strike and ensure that no patients are given a poor quality care

After the event the Tufts Medical Center has reacted to the strike by

  • Creating a three year 9 month contract
  • 6% pay increase during the contract
  • Additional 5% increment if at top level
  • A competitive pay increase was formulated
  • A retirement benefits was made better that all nurses are getting A good pension
  • Recruit best nurses who are specialised in specific department
