Answer #1

1.Deception is a crime in law and it is always not acceptable. The medical assistant cannot report to the physician directly where can report to the treating physician at present and make sure the information is conveyed to the other physician by him. This can prevent major legal happening in the near future .But taking a position of family member (patient as aunt) as a good will he can report to the prescribing physician about this as the patient can be saved for over dose complications

2.It is a must to inform that opioid analgesics has a serious effects of abusing and can be lethal if taken than the prescribed dose.Inform her that she has to say this to the concerned physicians and take the appropriate medication. Not to take treatment from two physicians for the same conditions and get medication which are same. Also inform her there are better options and treatment available to control pain.Hiding information to a physician will rather result in harm rather than the beneficial effects.

3.The physician can guard a patient from such abuses by making use of the electronic health record and going digitally where the patient details are available and the plan of care is executed

4.Opioid crisis has been a greater threat to US society .The following are the measures taken by the US government to eradicate this and bring situation under control

  • The CDC has offered Overdose Prevention in States (OPIS)
  • Cooperative Agreement for Emergency Response and Public Health Crisis program plays a key role in collecting data ,investigating and preventing the crisis
  • The physician prescribing options should always follow the guidelines
  • People who are prescribed for Opiods shoukd be under regular follow until completing the treatment
  • Awareness program done by the CDC
  • Working with the crisis devastating families to overvime this problems.
