Ceftazidime is major broad-spectrum, beta-lactam antibiotics used to treat the variety of the bacterial infection like RTI (respiratory tract infection), UTI (urinary tract infection) and eye infections. Ceftazidime is very effective for the Infections specially cause d by the Pseudomonas species.

Nursing implications: Before starting the Ceftazidime therapy it is advised to confirm the patient history for the penicillines and cephalosporins. Also the sound observation of the possible anaphylactic reaction is recommended. Abdominal cramping and other asspociated bowel movement should be also monitored and regulated.

Care required: utmost care is required in dose selection to avoild renal and hepatic ill effects. Avoid usage during pregnancy as well as breastfeeding.
