Answer #1

12. The total volume of intravenous solution to be infused is 250 ml

Total time to infuse is 2 hours

Flow rate = total volume / total time

= 250 ml/ 2hour

= 125 ml/ hour

13. Ordered dose of carteolol is 7.5 mg PO daily

Available dose of drug is 2.5 mg each tablet

The total number of tablets the nurse should administer is 3 ( 2.5+ 2.5+.2.5 = 7.5)

14. Ordered dose of bumetanide is 0.25mg

Available dose of drug is 1mg per 4ml

Means 1 mg of drug is available in 4 ml

Then 0.25 mg of drug will be present in 4/ 1 × 0.25

= 1 ml

1 ml of available medicine has 0.25 mg of drug .
