Answer #1

10. Answer.

Order

Dantrolene sodium ( dantrium)

Dose= 8 mg/ kg / day in 4 divided dose.

Weight of the client = 48.5 kg.

Total amount of drug needed according to weight is

= 48.5 kg(pt. weight ) X 8 mg/ kg/day.

= 388 mg is needed for 24 hours or a day.

It has to be given in 4 divided dose, means :

= 388 mg total drug / 4 ( divided dose)

= 97 mg per 6 hourly ( single dose)

Total.  388 mg safe dose can be administered in a day or 24 hours.

11. Answer.

Order.

Metoclopramide

Desired Dose= 10 mg po 6 hourly.

Available dose ( hand dose)= 5mg / 5ml.

What we want / what we have * quantity of dilution.

OR

Formula

Desired dose / Dose on hand * Quantity of dilution

= 10 mg / 5mg * 5 ml.

= 10 ml.

Total 10 ml drug should be administered every 6 hourly.

The measuring device that is being used is teaspoon

1 teaspoon = 5ml.

10 ml/ 5 ml

= 2 teaspoon is needed

12. Answer.

Order

Dantrium.

Desired dose= 0.1 gm BID( twice)

Available dose = 100 mg / capsule.

In one intake the total amount of drug Dantrium is to be taken is 0.1 gm.

As the available dose is in mg but we have to administer in grams,

Converting 100 mg in grams = 0.1 gm.

Formula

= Desired dose / dose on hand * quantity.

= 0.1 gm / 0.1 gm * 1 capsule

= 1 capsule Is needed in one dose .

( Hence, 1 capsule is required.)

13. Answer.

Order.

Inocor.

Available 0.1 gm in 100 ml of 0.9% NS.

Desired dose = 400 mcg / min.

Converting 0.1 gm = 100000 mcg

 Formula

Desired dose / Dose on hand * Quantity.

= 400 mcg / 100000 mcg * 100 ml.

= 0.4 ml / min.

To calculate for one hour

= 0.4 ml * 60 min (1 hour)

= 24 ml / Hour

( 24 ml/ hour).
