Ans) 1) Instructions for patient receiving prednisolone:

- Caution client not to abruptly stop the drug.

- Dose is tapered over 1 -2 weeks.

- Direct client not to take cortisone preparations during pregnancy unless medically necessary.

- Inform that herbal laxatives and diuretics may increase severity of hypokalemia.

2) Symptoms other than GI in older people when taking aspirin:

- Bleeding tendencies, GI irritation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

- Skin for signs of decreased coagulation.

- Signs of hypersensitivity to aspirin, including dyspnea, bronchospasm, and rash.

3) The clinical manifestations of butorphanol overdose are those of opioid drugs in general. Consequences of overdose vary with the amount of butorphanol ingested and individual response to the effects of opiates.

- The most serious symptoms are hypoventilation, cardiovascular insufficiency, coma, and death.
