1-year-old woman presents because she has had unprotected intercourse and is worled about pregnancy. She has been on vacation and met a man with whom she had unprotected intercourse 36 hours ago, and also 4 days before that. Her last menstrual period started 13 days ago and she bleeds for 4 days every 27 days. She has had no other episodes of intercourse since her last period. She is generally healthy but has a history of epilepsy for which she takes carbamazepine (Tegretol). She has no other significant medical history. Abdominal examination is unremarkable and a pelvic exam is not indicated. Urine pregnancy test is negative. 6.The women having a menstrual cycle of 27 days are highly fertile on their 13th and 14th day.The chance of conception is possible during this time besides she is taking any form of medication for any illnesses.

She has to be recommended a post coital pill as they are effective for 120 hours after a coitus.

She can be given a Plan B one step pill (progesterone only) available in market without prescription or a two pill (estrogen and progestrone formulation )to be given after 12 to 24 hours.Here the patient is at 36 hours post coitus to be prescribed a single dose of selective progesterone receptor modulator which are effective untill 120 hours.

She has to be informed about the side effects ,future possible complications and to report in case of any bleeding or if periods doesn't occur.
