22. c. Small compounds, one or two

Simple carbohydrates are monomers or dimers with simple structures. The complex carbohydrates contain multiple monosaccharides with complex chained structures with branching.

23. b. glucose, fructose, galactose

These are simple sugars which are monomers. These are called monosaccharides. They polymerise among themselves and form complex carbohydrates like cellulose etc.

24. a. One glucose and one fructose

Both of these molecules form a disaccharide by forming a glycosidic bond between them giving rise to sucrose.

25. b. Muscle, liver

The carbohydrates are absorbed into the blood stream after digestion in form of simple sugars. These are used up for the various purposes in the body. Excess remaining carbohydrates are stored in the liver and muscles in the form of liver and muscle glycogen.

This is a carbohydrate digesting enzyme secreted in the oral cavity. These help in digestion of carbohydrates in the oral cavity itself whose end products are later absorbed in the lower parts of gut.

28. b. Small intestine

This functional group is aldehyde group. This is present in carbohydrates. Their maximum digestion occurs due to pancreatic amylase secreted in the small intestine.
