Communication is a way of expressing the thoughts to others .This itself can impress one to follow their words with faith and confidence.This is possible only when the right things are communicated and paves way for a leadership development. A leader can lead others only when they have this skill.If a leader is highly knowledgeable but lacks an effective communication, may not be able to direct and guide others and achieve the desired goal.Hence in a simple term communication is leadership and vice versa.

This particular characteristics is very important for a nurse because the care of a patient starts from an effectiveness communication and ends in the same way at the time of discharge.The entire contact with the patient is by communication (explaining each and event aspects of the care, orientation, health education,diversional therapy, etc.,)The nurse when has a good leadership skill will be able to guide others and involve the entire healthcare team to provide a multidisciplinary care to the patient with the simultaneous involvement of the patient relative.
