Nick and Meghan have a newborn baby whose diagnosis of cystic fibrosis was recently confirmed following routine newborn testing. Nick is 36 years old and Swedish descent. Meghan is 36 and of Irish descent. This is their first child.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease inherited from parents. It dates back to 5000 years in Europe where the incidence and prevalence of this disease was very common among one in every fourty individuals. Nick being a Swedish (European ,has a high risk of carrying this gene or a 508 del carrier)The pregnancy rate decreases greatly after age ethics in a female To get cystic fibrosis both parents should have that defective gene.It means both the parents are carrier of the gene.

The chance of CF for next child is 25% and 75% of other child to be carrier among four children.Here a medical advice and treatment is rewuired for next conception and delivery of a healthy babyl
