Ans.) Pharmacogenomics deals with the genetics that is deciding factor or response of a patient to therapeutic drugs. It is a very well known fact that the medicine affects different people differently according to their genetic makeup.

In serious cases, where the medicine is not quite effective to a patient, it should be mandatory his/her genetic testing to improve the treatment.

Yes, there are several times; I encountered this problem that the prescribed medicine was not working as it was expected. Different genetic composition may be problem in some of the cases, but one cannot say anything with certainty. Actually, this has to be validated by further testing.

Implications of Pharmacists –
