Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Calculation of ml/hr.

          Formula = Total volume(ml) / Time (hr).

    1) ml/hr.

           Calculation of total volume

                   Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

            Desired dose = 1-2 mg/min.

           Dose in hand = 2000 mg (2gm)

               Quantity = 500 ml.

As per above formula

       Total volume of drug required = 1/2000 * 500 to 2/2000 * 500

                                                      = 0.0005 * 500 to 0.001 * 500

                                                      = 0.25 ml/min to 0.5 ml/min.

        Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60

                         ml/hr = 0.25 * 60 to 0.5 * 60

                                  = 15 ml/hr to 30 ml/hr.

2) ml/hr.

          Total volume of drug required.

                 Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

         Here

              Desired dose = 1 to 3 mcg/min.

              Dose in hand = 1 mg.

        Convert mg to mcg for calculation

                        1 mg = 1000 mcg.

       So

             Dose in hand = 1000 mcg.

                  Quantity = 250 ml.

       As per above formula

            Total volume of drug required = 1/1000 * 250 to 3/1000 * 250

                                                            = 0.001 * 250 to 0.003 * 250

                                                            = 0.25ml/min to 0.75ml/min.

            Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60.

                                  ml/hr = 15ml/hr to 45 ml/hr.

3) ml/hr.

         Calculation of total volume

              Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

              Ordered dose = 5-8 mcg/kg/min.

           Weight of the patient = 103.7 kg.

     So

              Desired dose = 5 * 103.7 - 8 * 103.7

                                     = 518.5 mcg/min to 829.6 mcg/min.

            Dose in hand = 100 mg.

      Convert mg to mcg for calculation.

                    1 mg = 1000 mcg.

           Dose in hand = 100000 mcg (100 mg)

                   Quantity = 40 ml.

   As per above formula

        Total volume of drug required = 518.5/100000 * 40 - 829.6/100000 * 40

                                                        = 0.0052 *40 - 0.0082 * 40

                                                        = 0.21ml/min to 0.33 ml/min.

             Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60

                                 ml/hr = 0.21 * 60 to 0.33 * 60

                                          = 12.6 to 19.8

                                          = 13 ml/hr to 20 ml/hr.

4) ml/hr.

        Calculation of total volume.

            Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

     Here

         ordered dose = 50 to 100 mcg/kg/min.

         Weight of the patient = 78.7 kg.

      So

            Desired dose = 50 * 78.7 to 100 * 78.7

                                   = 3935 mcg/min to 7870 mcg/min.

            Dose in hand = 2500 mg.

     Convert mg to mcg for calcualtion

                    1 mg = 1000 mcg.

           Dose in hand = 2500000 mcg (2500mg)

               Quantity = 250 ml.

    As per above formula

      Total volume of drug required = 3935/2500000 * 250 to 7870/2500000 * 250

                                                      = 0.002 * 250 to 0.003 * 250

                                                      = 0.5 ml/min to 0.75 ml/min.

            Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60

                               ml/hr = 0.5 * 60 to 0.75 * 60

                                        = 30 m/hr to 45 ml/hr.

5) ml/hr.

        Calculation of total volume.

             Formula = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

      Here

            Ordered dose = 3 to 10 mcg/kg/min.

           Weight of the patient = 73.2 kg.

              Desired dose = 3 * 73.2 to 10 * 73.2

                                    = 219.6 mcg/min to 732 mcg/min.

             Dose in hand = 500 mg.

       Convert mg to mcg for calculation

                       1 mg = 1000 mcg.

             Dose in hand = 500000 mcg (500 mcg).

                    Quantity = 250 ml.

   As per above formula

      Total volume of drug required = 219.6/500000 * 250 to 732/500000 * 250

                                                     = 0.0004 * 250 to 0.0015 * 250

                                                     = 0.1 ml/min to 0.38 ml/min.

             Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60.

                           ml/hr = 0.1 * 60 to 0.38 * 60

                                    = 6 to 22.8

                                    = 6 ml/hr to 23 ml/hr.
